About  Me

I am (almost) a Tucson native, I have been here since I was 3, the desert is all I know. My family is from Chicago and scattered throughout the South and Midwest, growing up it was always a nice escape during our summer heat! My mom is the daughter of a Lithuanian immigrant and a Swedish mother. We grew up with a lot of Eastern European culture, and so much good food! Food and nutrition were a big part of life. When I think of food it brings me joy, all of our celebrations involved careful thought into what we ate. Naturally, when my daughter was born, I became very invested in what she ate. From the health aspects of food to the diversity and flavor profiles, it was important to me that she had variety, and depth in her diet.

I love to cook, bake, and eat! When I am not busy with work or parenting, I try to find time to get creative in the kitchen. I dabble in cake decorating, love throwing dinner parties, and gathering with friends and family of course with good food.

When our beautiful daughter was born, she came with some surprises we weren't expecting. First, she came early at 34 weeks, spent 28 very long days in the NICU, then was diagnosed with a very rare genetic condition, she was the 151st person to be given her diagnosis at the time.

All of this only intensified my desire to ensure her diet was optimal to help her grow and thrive. Our breastfeeding journey was challenging, low muscle tone, and a cardiac defect, all contributed to a long road to success, which we ultimately achieved with the help of our incredible lactation consultants. Pumping, bottle feeds, tube feeds, and practice breastfeeds were all part of our story. So with all of that, my passion for breastfeeding was born. So, that's me and my story, I can't wait to learn about you and yours!

Smiling Baby

“Melissa has been instrumental in my lactation journey with both of my daughters. My 1st daughter was born with a critical congenital heart defect, had open heart surgery at 10 days old, and nursing was very challenging as she was tube fed. I exclusively pumped and Melissa helped with creating a schedule, education on proper foods to eat while inpatient to increase milk production. It was so successful that we had to purchase a deep freezer. Then my 2nd daughter was born with several lip and tongue ties. It was very painful to latch, so Melissa again came to the rescue by showing me different positions and techniques to make the experience enjoyable. She is so empathic and compassionate in her approach, and helped me to have a successful breastfeeding journey. She truly cared about our success. I highly recommend her!.”

What Parents Are Saying

“Melissa was quick to show up when I called her about my breastfeeding issues with my daughter. We were having a painful latch and decreased supply issues. She not only spotted the latching problem right away, she also identified a very serious issue with my recovery that ultimately led to a potentially life-threatening condition that she was able to identify and prevent a much more serious issue from developing. She was respectful and patient with her approach. I felt confident with her many years of experience as an OB RN, her knowledge is unsurpassed”

"I don't know where I would be today without Melissa's help. I was ready to give up and didn't think we would make it. She taught me so much and was the only reason I could get through some nursing hurdles at the beginning while still keeping my baby fed. She quickly responds and follows up to see how things are going. I highly recommend using Melissa's services at any point as you work to feed your baby!"
